Why choose The Daycare Vet?
-
As a vet, it can be sad to see the number of dogs who are scared to visit us and often it is impossible to examine them. This can be a problem if your dog is ever feeling poorly and we can’t examine them to find out what’s wrong.
Signing up for my regular visits to your dog’s daycare centre allows me to invest time into building a trusting relationship. I will get them used to veterinary equipment, like using the stethoscope to listen to their heart and otoscope to check down their ears, in the hope that if they ever do need to visit the veterinary clinic they will have a more positive experience! I encourage you to pop in to your regular vet practice whenever you can to build a positive association with going there, too.
Our monthly visits are also very handy if your dog:
is a puppy - we need to monitor their development and get them used to being examined
is a senior - to monitor their mobility and wellbeing
often needs their anal glands emptied, nails clipped or ears cleaned
needs regular injections like Cytopoint, Artuvetrin or Librela.

I will make sure your dog gets their health checks and preventative treatments regularly and on time so you don’t have to think about it! Once you have registered I will arrange a visit day to suit your pup's schedule. Then you just drop them off at daycare as usual and I will take care of the rest.
You can raise any worries you have via the Collar app and I will make sure to pay particular attention to these areas whilst giving your dog their thorough examination. If I advise any additional treatments or medication I will always get in touch to ask your permission first. For any more complex concerns, I will discuss these with you and refer you back to your in-person veterinary clinic if further investigations are required.
After my visit, I will send through your dog’s health report to you and your usual vet within 48 hours and you can ask me any questions via the Collar app or via WhatApp.

During my visits I will give your pup their annual vaccinations, tailored parasite treatment and can also treat non-urgent conditions, such as ear infections or skin complaints, if necessary.
Vaccinations are given to protect your dog from the following preventable, but potentially deadly, diseases:
Distemper, hepatitis and parvovirus every 3 years
4 strains of leptospirosis yearly
Kennel cough yearly (caused by parainfluenza virus and bordetella bronchiseptica)
Rabies (additional cost - only if travelling abroad - see travel tab)
Year round parasite treatment is provided tailored to your dog’s lifestyle. These treatments can cover:
Internal parasites
Roundworms
Tapeworm (more common if raw fed)
Lungworm (more common if your dog eats slugs & snails!)
External parasites:
Fleas
Mites
Ticks (can transmit Lyme’s disease)

I want to ensure your dog is healthy and happy for as long as possible so regular check ups can pick up early signs of disease. I will perform a thorough examination at every visit and send you and your usual vet a detailed report afterwards. This includes watching their natural behaviour and movement when with other dogs, checking their eyes, ears and teeth, listening to their heart and lung sounds, checking their skin for any lumps or bumps and monitoring their weight. On the VIP membership, I will also check an annual urine sample which can pick up early signs of disease.

My commitment to minimising the environmental impact of our business encompasses several initiatives:
1. Environmentally Friendly Products: I will use eco-friendly products whenever possible. This includes using biodegradable examination gloves, buster collars crafted from 80% recycled plastic and fully recyclable materials, biodegradable disinfectant wipes, recyclable pill containers, and syringes designed with 30% less material and manufactured using 100% renewable energy.
2. Oral Parasite Treatments: Spot-on treatments pose a greater risk of waterway and environmental contamination so I have opted for oral parasite treatments. These are mainly excreted in faeces so please help this cause by picking up your dog’s poo!
3. Paperless: By using the Collar app, I've gone (almost) completely paperless, which not only enhances efficiency but also contributes to the preservation of trees and saves energy used in paper production.
4. Reducing Carbon Emissions: I make an effort to streamline appointments so all dogs at the same daycare centre can be seen on the same day, thereby reducing my overall carbon footprint.
